A Passion for Utah
I'm Scott — an American traveler who got his first passport in 2002 and has since explored 40+ countries. Utah captivated me with its incredible diversity — red rock canyons, world-class skiing, stunning national parks, and landscapes that take your breath away. This is how decades of obsessive trip planning became the travel guide I wished existed.
Travel has always been my escape from the rat race — and honestly, I enjoy the planning almost as much as being there. Researching destinations, mapping routes, finding that perfect spot. Utah has been one of the most rewarding places I've explored — the diversity of landscapes, the incredible outdoor recreation, and the way world-class ski resorts sit alongside stunning desert canyons.
From the vibrant streets of Salt Lake City to the otherworldly hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, from powder days at Snowbird to watching the sunset paint the arches in Moab — Utah delivers experiences that stay with you. The variety, from alpine wilderness to red rock desert, is unlike anywhere else.
I'm not a travel blogger. I work in healthcare IT. But Utah keeps pulling me back, and I finally decided to put everything I've learned into something useful — a site with honest prices, video content from the places I've actually been, and an AI trip planner that builds real itineraries. It's the resource I wished existed when I started exploring every corner of the Beehive State.
The Journey So Far
Scott gets his first passport and begins exploring the world. 40+ countries would follow — but certain destinations would leave a deeper mark than others.
The first trip to Utah. The Wasatch Mountains rising above Salt Lake City, the first drive through red rock country, the realization that Utah has so much more than just ski resorts. The obsession begins.
Moab, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Park City, the Mighty Five. Each trip goes deeper — from the tourist highlights to the places only locals know. Utah's scenic byways and canyon roads make the entire state accessible, and every region reveals something new.
The travel guide Scott wished existed finally becomes real — with video content, an AI trip planner, and honest recommendations. Not recycled content from press trips. A real guide built by someone who loves this state.
The People Behind the Pages
Healthcare IT professional by day, travel obsessive by every other waking moment. Based in Southern California. Got his first passport in 2002 and has since explored 40+ countries. Utah captured his imagination with its incredible diversity — five national parks, world-class skiing, red rock wilderness, and landscapes that go beyond imagination. Enjoys the trip planning almost as much as the travel itself.
Born in the Philippines and based in San Diego. Cultural explorer who brings personal storytelling and sensory detail to Discover Utah. The one who finds the farm-to-table restaurant in Moab that Scott walked right past, understands the sacred significance of canyon country, and brings the emotional depth that makes Utah feel like more than just a national park checklist.
What You'll Never Find Here
I built this site because I got tired of Utah travel content that's secretly a press trip recap or a sponsored hotel review dressed up as honest advice. Discover Utah exists because I wanted the resource I wished I had when I started planning my first trip.
